If possible we will match your church with an elementary school in your area where there is a pantry or where we wish to establish a weekend food pantry. This is not required to collect and donate food.
We recommend that after all ten food items have been collected the program be stopped for a short period of one to three months and then restarted. This will allow the donors to recommit to the food drive as each new ten week drive is announced.
Sharing the message
As your church members participate in the ten week program they can also spread the message that there are thousands of local children without food and the serious effects of hunger on their young lives.
Since starting our in school weekend food pantry program we have heard from teachers and school staff personal. They tell us that these children have changed and are better able to learn once they no longer fear leaving school on Friday and facing hunger each weekend.
I had no idea local children need food
What we constantly hear from many people is - I did not know that thousands of local children face hunger issues every weekend.
If you can, talk to local teaches particularly teachers in schools located in low income area's, although there are children in need of weekend food in almost every school.
Thank you for Caring & Sharing with Children in Need
